Odd-Fish Trufax V 26th September 2008Previous TruFax strips: [ I ] [ II ] [ III ] [ IV ]
Also known as the Mexican Walking fish, the Axolotl does indeed spend its entire life as a partly developed tadpole and never fully reaches adulthood (At least, not in nature) In this juvenile state the creature mates and breeds producing the next generation of tadpoles who again never reach maturity. The Axolotl’s unique condition, (called neoteny) which keeps the animal mid metamorphosis (When an organism changes from larvae to adult) has one amazing side effect. Axolotls can regenerate almost any part of their body if it becomes lost or damaged, including limbs, eyes, internal organs and even parts of its brain! In addition to this, sometimes while re-growing a lost part, they’ll grow another alongside it as well!Thank you again to those of you who have sent donations or kind works for our poor cat, Ziggy. Thanks to you we have been able to get him everything he needs to stay as healthy and comfortable as possible despite his condition. You are all wonderful people and you have restored my faith in Hugh Manatee.Next strip: Friday 3rd October
